Friends of Sears Island to Host Wildflower Walk

Friends of Sears Island is hosting a spring wildflower walk on Sunday, May 22nd from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Naturalist Wanda Garland will lead participants on an exploration to identify spring wildflowers, as well as other native plants, trees and shrubs along the way. A former biology teacher and master botanist, Wanda has a reputation as an engaging program leader with a wealth of knowledge to share. Come and enjoy her dynamic style while taking in the beauty of some early blooms!

 This event is free and open to the public. Sears Island is on Sears Island Road off Route 1 just east of Searsport. Participants should park along the causeway at the end of the road and meet at kiosk near the island gate by 10:00 am. Come prepared for a moderate hike on varied terrain. Walking sticks are encouraged. Please wear footwear appropriate for hiking, clothing suitable for the weather and insects, and bring water, a snack, and insect repellant.
