On Sunday, November 12, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Friends of Sears Island will host an all-ages community crafting program. This will be a time for people to gather and make natural crafts celebrating fall, Thanksgiving, and the practice of gratitude. The program will be held at the Searsport Community Building at 42 Prospect Street in Searsport. Friends of Sears Island will have several crafting stations set up, where participants can make a paper lantern, a thankful tree with gold acorns, place cards for the Thanksgiving table, and felted friendship bracelets. A snack of cider, pumpkin bread, and apples will be available as well. Spend the afternoon visiting with friends and neighbors and create some lovely items that can adorn your Thanksgiving table, or be given as gifts as we enter the holiday season!
This free program is for all ages, young and old and in between, but children must attend with an accompanying adult. While registration is not required and drop-ins are welcome, an RSVP to outreach@friendsofsearsisland.org is much appreciated so that we can anticipate how many snacks and materials we will need to have on hand. This also allows us to be in touch with you to remind you of the event and to share updates. Participants should wear clothes they don’t mind getting paint and glue on, and can bring some ferns, leaves, pressed flowers or anything they’d like to incorporate into their paper lantern.
