Our socially-distant solstice activities will kick off this Saturday, June 20th, the official first day of summer. Although we won’t be hosting Solstice by the Sea this year, we hope that you will visit the island and participate in the following activities as a way to celebrate summer together while we continue to keep our distance.
POETRY TRAIL: There will be a poetry path temporarily set up along the Homestead Trail, where you’ll be able to read summer-themed poems and passages as you walk.
CHALK ARTWORK: We will also have a large chalk sun drawn on the pavement in honor of the summer solstice and encourage you to bring your own sidewalk chalk and add some summer-themed artwork.
PHOTO SHARING: Lastly, we would love to see photos of how you are celebrating summer on Sears Island. These could be photos of the sunrise or sunset, your chalk art, a hike or picnic with loved ones, a landscape shot, or anything you feel moved to take a photo of while visiting the island. You can share your photos with us by using the hashtag #SearsIslandSolstice on Instagram and Facebook, or by emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org to be shared in a community album on our Facebook page.
We wish you a happy, healthy summer and look forward to a community celebration in the future.
