Join Friends of Sears Island on Saturday, August 13th from 10am-12pm for “Photographing Insects and Flowers” Learn the basics of photographing insects and flowers with Roger Rittmaster, a Maine Master Naturalist and the author of “Butterflies Up Close: A Guide to Butterfly Photography.” Roger will teach program participants how to identify insects and demonstrate how to use your iPhone, an SLR, or a point and shoot camera in nature photography. A retired endocrinologist, Roger has a lifelong interest in natural history and nature photography, and over the past 15 years has focused on photographing insects.

This event is free and open to the public. Sears Island is on Sears Island Road off Route 1 just east of Searsport. Participants should park along the causeway at the end of the road and meet at the kiosk near the island gate by 10:00 am. Bring a camera, and please wear footwear appropriate for hiking, clothing suitable for the weather and insects, water, and insect repellent. Please no pets on guided walks.
